Picutre of Ultraseal equipment

The Ultraseal 21™ uses ultrasonic vibrations to seal plastic and ionomeric resin straws. This energy is focused so that heat is applied only to the interior straw surfaces to be sealed. Thermo or heat sealers heat the straw from the outside in. This applies unnecessary, excess heat (see graphs below).

The Ultraseal 21™ seals 0.5cc unplugged and 0.5cc and 0.25cc plugged (French) plastic straws and 0.3 ml CBS™ ionomeric resin straws.

Ultraseal 21™ features:

  • User-selected sealing times
  • Audio and visual sealing indicators
  • Sealing up to six feet from table top control unit

Technical information:

  • Weight: 3 lbs (sealer and cord weigh 8.8 ounces)
  • Dimensions: 5.75"x 6.75"x 3.5"
  • Output power: 20W
  • Sonic Cycle: 60 KHz
  • Fuse: 2A
  • 116 VAC 60 Hz 36 W

Testing Overview:

Heat sensors were placed inside straws 11 mm from the ends to be sealed. The straws were filled with reverse osmosis filtered, de-ionized water to 10 mm from those ends. Sensors were accurate to ± .1° C. The first data point in each series was the last reading before sealing. Data given is averaged from the tests.
